Free Year in Pixels template

Your Year in Pixels.

A Year in Pixels is a simple mood tracker: one small square for every day of the year, colored by how that day felt. Try it below, then print it or keep going in the app.

Pick a mood above, then tap a day to color it. Tap again to clear.

How to start your Year in Pixels

Pick five colors for your moods and add a small legend. Every evening, think about your day as a whole and color its square. Don't overthink it: it's about the big picture, not every moment.

Spot your patterns

After a few weeks, look for streaks of color. Are weekends brighter? Do rainy weeks look blue? Adding a note about sleep, exercise or friends makes these patterns much easier to see.

Paper or app?

A printed Year in Pixels is lovely on a desk or in a bullet journal. An app is easier to keep up with, because you can check in in one tap and it works out your patterns for you.

Our Mood Tracker

Our Mood Tracker web app fills your Year in Pixels as you check in, and shows what lifts your mood: activities, weather and sleep. It's private, works offline and has no subscription.

FAQ

Good to know.

What is a Year in Pixels?

It's a mood tracker where each day of the year is one small square. At the end of each day you color the square based on your mood. Over time you see your whole year at a glance.

What colors should I use?

Use 5 colors, one per mood, from awful to great. Many people use cool colors for hard days and warm colors for happy days. Keep the same colors all year.

Is this template free?

Yes. Color it online and print it as many times as you like. It isn't saved, so print it before closing the page, or use our Mood Tracker app to keep it automatically.

Can a mood tracker help my mental health?

Tracking your mood can help you notice patterns, like how sleep or exercise affect you. It's a self-care tool, not a treatment. If you're struggling, please talk to a doctor or a local helpline.
